 Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.

Responsibilities

Tasks

  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
  • Address customers' complaints or concerns
  • Professionalism in customer service
  • Load and unload goods
  • Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
  • Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
  • Perform brake adjustments
  • Perform emergency roadside repairs
  • Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Receive and relay information to central dispatch
  • Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
  • Transport and handle dangerous goods

Credentials

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses 

  • AZ class license
  • Air Brakes Endorsement
  • Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)
  • Air Brake (Z) Endorsement

Experience and specialization

Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Maintenance and repair reports

Type of trucking and equipment: Dry bulk, Refrigerated, Tractor-trailer

Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment

Additional information

Security and safety: Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract), Drug test

Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight

Work conditions and physical capabilities: Attention to detail, Physically demanding, Repetitive tasks, Sitting
