Job Title: Educational Assistant

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Type: Full-time, 30 hours/week, 6 hours/day, from Monday to Friday

Salary: 34.5/hour

Job Description:

Ficus Education Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support students and assist teachers with instructional and non-instructional tasks, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with integration into the classroom and school setting.
  • Provide individual or small group support to students with assignments, reinforcing learning concepts under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
  • Support students with special needs using techniques such as sign language, braille, and remedial programs.
  • Monitor and report student progress to the classroom teacher.
  • Accompany and supervise students during activities in school gymnasiums, laboratories, libraries, resource centres, and on field trips.
  • Assist teachers in operating projectors, tape recorders, and other audio-visual or electronic equipment.
  • Perform duties in the school library or office as assigned by the school principal.
  • Monitor students during recess, lunch hours, or throughout the school day.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Completion of a 10-month college program in teaching assistance, educational assistance, or a related social science field is usually required.
  • Specialized training and experience are required for assisting students with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
