Job Summary:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Home Child Care Provider to provide essential care and support. The successful candidate will assist with daily living activities, personal care, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for the children.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and care for children in the employer's or own residence.
• Bathe, dress, and feed infants and children.
• Oversee children's activities, such as meals and rest periods.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
• Plan and prepare age-appropriate activities, including games, crafts, and storytelling.
• Assist children with homework and school-related tasks.
• Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for children.
• Perform light housekeeping duties related to child care, such as cleaning up after meals and tidying play areas.
• Observe children for any signs of illness or injury and report concerns to parents.
• Administer basic first aid if needed.
• Teach children proper hygiene and social behavior.
• Provide a supportive and nurturing environment for children's emotional and social development.
• Use positive discipline techniques to manage behavior to help children develop social skills and independence.
• Inform parents about children's daily activities, progress, and any concerns.
• Follow parents' instructions regarding child care, routines, and any special needs.
• May be required to care for children with disabilities or special needs.

Qualifications: 

- 2-3 years of experience in a similar role (home care, nursing, or related field) 

- College diploma in Healthcare, Nursing, or a related discipline 

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively 

- Empathy, patience, and a passion for helping others 

Location:

Work will be provided at the employer's residence in Nanaimo, BC (V9V 1S9).
