About the Opportunity:

AIMS Group has an immediate job opening for the position of a Bookkeeper. This is a permanent full-time opportunity. The Bookkeeper job position oversees all activities related financial bookkeeping for our various business clients and the preparation and distribution of financial reports for them. This position will be responsible for full-cycle accounting functions as well as provide accurate and timely financial and management reports. This position ensures compliance with all business policies related to customer service, and security of data.

This job is characterized by the fast-paced and deadline driven nature of the work. It requires strong financial and customer service skills along with proactive planning in order to effectively deal with the work flow inherent to meet various tax return deadlines.

About the Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Following are job duties and responsibilities for this position:

  • Supervise and Receive clients’ financial data periodically via emails, in-person, & mail. Review, & punch incoming business data/ paperwork from various clients into system as soon as you receive the information.
  • Supervise and Post business data entries into customized client work datasheets, assist in preparation of balance sheet and income statement schedules, and perform other bookkeeping activities using various softwares.
  • Ensures that all documentation complies with company regulations, professional standards, and tax reporting guidelines.
  • Prepare and assist with submission of personal income tax returns and corporate income tax returns.
  • Prepare and assist with submission of payroll tax remittance forms, sales tax returns (GST/HST), workers' compensation forms, year-end T4 returns and other government documents.
  • Manage work to ensure priorities are met and checking work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Recommending enhancements to general accounting activities to ensure compliance with organizational and governmental policies and procedures and to ensure the most effective and efficient operations.
  • Prepare paystubs, payroll summaries, and related reports as assigned.
  • Ensure working area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures).
  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/email as directed. Review and act on government issued assessments, notices and statements.
  • Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries.
  • Perform other clerical administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing.

About the Job Skills and Requirements:

Following are the job skills and requirements for this position:

  • Completion of secondary school is required along with;

Completion of a college program in accounting, bookkeeping/ a related field,

and

Minimum 1-2 year of experience as financial or accounting bookkeeper/ tax preparer.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites, and various accounting and bookkeeping softwares ie. Profile, Cantax and Quickbooks
  • First class communication and written skills along with ability to quickly understand and act on questions raised by clients in a timely manner.
  • Self-motivated with a diligent and detailed approach to completing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle work stress and pressure well.
  • Ability to adjust your personal schedule to workload requirements.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours during tax season (Feb to April)
  • A high degree of initiative and independence.

 

About the Working Hours, Salary, Benefits and How to Apply:

Working Hours: It is a permanent full-time job position that required minimum of 37.50 hours per week.

Salary and Benefits:

      Job Salary:  $19.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience, skills and knowledge. /    C$37,050.00 to C$42,900.00 annual salary based on experience, skills and knowledge.

      Benefits:  Spot Performance Bonus, Vacation Pay, Sick Leaves and Optional Health Benefits Contribution Plans

      Other:  Additional working hours/ schedule may be assigned during tax season.
