The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, including managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, processing payroll, and preparing financial reports. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records and databases.
  • Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process.
  • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct accounts.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements.
  • Prepare and process payroll.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, such as balance sheets and income statements.
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage and monitor company’s cash flow and budget.
  • Prepare and file local, state, and federal tax forms.
  • Assist with audits and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Communicate with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
  • Certification from a recognized bookkeeping or accounting association is preferred.
